The arrival of affordable health insurance could make a big difference in Kent, where 24% of adults under age 65 are uninsured. Thanks to Washington Healthplanfinder, residents now have a new way to find, compare and enroll in affordable health insurance plans. Enrollment runs through March 31st 2014 for coverage plans starting January 1st 2014.
An analysis by Public Health – Seattle & King County found that in Kent:
- 16,869 people are uninsured, which is about 24% of the population
- Of the uninsured, 6,070 people will be eligible for Medicaid through the expansion
- Of the uninsured, 8,233 will be eligible for subsidies and tax credits through the Health Benefit Exchange
